Main features

Charts

Line, bar and candlestick charts with templates and profiles that save layouts. Drawing tools cover lines, channels, Fibonacci and Gann objects. Charts can be detached and arranged, though not as flexibly as newer platforms.

Orders

Market execution or instant execution depending on the broker, buy and sell limits and stops, and stop loss, take profit and trailing stop attached to positions. The trailing stop runs in the client terminal, so it stops moving when the terminal closes.

Automated trading

Expert advisors, custom indicators and scripts written in MQL4, downloadable from the MQL5 marketplace or written yourself. MT4's library is its enduring advantage; nothing written for it runs on MT5 without rewriting.

Desktop, web and mobile

The desktop terminal for Windows is the full product. The web terminal covers trading and charts without EAs. Mobile apps for iOS and Android cover trading, charts and alerts; availability on Apple's App Store has been interrupted in the past, so check your broker's current offer.
